My friend Sylvia loves halloween. It’s her favorite holiday. If you drive by her house a couple weeks before October 31, you will definitely see that it is. Her house is always elaborately decorated, with a new theme every year. These are not just spur of the moment decorations; her planning and preparation starts as early as December. By January/February, she is already buying the items that she will need (masks, mannequins, and various props). I have the pleasure of seeing the projects take shape throughout the year.
One of the things that stands out with her work is her attention to detail, even though most of the details will be missed. But! Theses are not kits. All of her halloween decorations are handmade, hand drawn, and painted. She picks out the clothes, and even got the help of an electrical engineer to use an oscillating fan motor to add movement. These are not just holiday decorations, they are full theatrical productions… worthy of showing off. That’s where I got involved. The past two years, I’ve gone to her house to create videos.
The first was The Game of Thrones, including her and every woman’s favorite, Jon Snow. I tried to include as many of the details as I could. Notice the lights inside the White Walker’s eyes. Remember, these aren’t kits
The second halloween was Clown themed, Including characters from The Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Pennywise from IT, and Jigsaw from the Saw movies…
